Andy Relf is the author of the
Event Safety Code 2003 - published by the National
Crowd and Event Safety Working Group. He has been
a member of the working group for twenty years
working with the Home Office, Health and Safety
Executive, Dept of Culture, Media and Sport, ACPO,
Local Government Association and the Department
of Transport. As the representative of the U.K.
Sports Council, he has been working to protect
the right of sporting and other events to take
place, and to enhance safety whilst supporting
the responsibilities of organisers.

He remains at the forefront of national developments
in sport and event legislation and safety, and has been
engaged with the technical and rules committees of the
governing bodies of sport to review and introduce rules
and operating procedures compatible with the Event Safety
Code.
On behalf of the Sports Council he has performed the
demanding role of UK advisor, or event troubleshooter,
to athletic and cycle based competitive sport, and provided
the Governing Bodies national training seminars on the
Event Safety Code Requirements, including risk assessment.
On a practical basis, he has been actively involved
in the organisation, safety and operation of many major
events such as conferences, VIP visits, and sporting
events such as the Tour de France, Tour of Britain Cycle
Races, London Triathlon etc. and advised upon hundreds
of smaller events throughout the UK.
He has extensive knowledge of the industry combined
with the practical experience of major events and the
problems and pressures faced by smaller event organisers. |
